Accessibility Testing in an Agile Environment: A Case Study for E-Learning
Introduction :
It is very important to check whether the Product is accessible by everyone. Using accessibility we will pretty much be sure that our product is easily accessible to different abled people who make up to 20% of the world population.
Client Sketch:
The client is a US-based e-learning company with a Learning Management System (LMS). The LMS is an online platform that allows students from various countries, including differently-abled students, to enroll in courses and obtain certificates upon completion.
To enhance the user experience and considering the product is open to all, SDET Tech offers accessibility testing to our client.
Challenges for the Client:
Client is using the Agile methodology for the product development and it was getting very difficult to combine different accessibility aspects for evaluating the product so that people with different disabilities like Vision, Physical and hearing can access the product without any usability issue.
Solutions We Provide:
Accessible scanning, reading and navigation are the main points where SDET Tech provides our solution.
- A well structured scanning of a page is like to cover title, sections, and headings. By using tools like Jaws and Quality Logic Product is more accessible.
- We make sure that modules are accessible to screen readers that are platform-specific and all aspects are accessible with 200% and 400% zoom levels and color contrast is validated for color-blind or partially blind people.
- Beyond regular checking, we also offer comprehensive solutions to increase the user experience of the visually impaired person
- We have done 3 manual testing to raise 100+ tickets and found 350+ bugs
Conclusion:
The client was very impressed with the efficiency of the accessibility testing team of SDET Tech. We can take pride in concluding the project ahead of time with our comprehensive testing approach.
